Creative Ways To Remember Your Pet After They Are Gone

Pet Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge

When a loved one dies, it’s helpful to our grieving process to find a way to remember them, and losing a pet is no different. Here are some creative ways you can remember your pet when they’re gone.

A Memorial Stone

A memorial stone is essentially like a headstone for your dead pet. You can use it to mark their remains in your backyard, or just get it made as a symbol for the death of your pet. Memorial stones come in all shapes, styles, and sizes, and they can range from affordable to expensive. You can design your memorial stone however you’d like. Some popular inscriptions include the pet’s name, date of birth, date of dead, and their paw prints. You could also get a photo of your pet put on the stone, or any other saying or picture that you feel best represents them.

Volunteering

One of the best ways to remember a pet after they’re gone is to honor their memory by volunteering to help other animals. You can volunteer to help at a local shelter, for example, or you can devote your time to supporting a cause, such as awareness for the type of medical condition your pet had. Volunteering is a great way to help animals in need, and your pet’s life will have made an even more positive, lasting impression on the world and others.

A Scrapbook

If you are artistic, a scrapbook is a way you can creatively remember your pet. You can fill and decorate a scrapbook with photos of you and your pet, journal entries of good memories you have of them, and other mementos to remind you of them, such as their ID tags or collar. If you want to do something a little simpler, just fill a photo album with photos of you and your pet, and you’ll have something you can look back at whenever you want to remember your pet.

Jewelry

It might seem a little off the wall, but many owners have had jewelry made from their pets remains. For example, you could create a necklace with a locket that holds some of your pet’s hair or ashes. There are companies that can do this for you and help you design a piece of jewelry that’s personalized for you and your pet. If you don’t want to use a part of your pet, you can still have special jewelry made to remember them, such as a bracelet that’s engraved with your pet’s name or a necklace with a locket that holds their photograph.

A Tree

Planting a tree is an excellent way to honor and remember your pet. Out of their death, you can create life that will last for years to come. Plant a tree in your backyard, for example, and put a memorial plaque to mark its spot, or put it overtop your pet’s remains. You could also pay to have a tree planted in your local park in honor of your dead pet.
